Diana Vostrikova (UMMC Youth team, Yekaterinburg, 16 years old, 179 cm) became a champion as part of the Russian U18 women’s national team at the 3rd CIS Games. The tournament took place from October 3 to 7 in Ganja, Azerbaijan.

On the first day, the Russian team played in a round-robin format against the national teams of Uzbekistan, Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, and Belarus. The two opening games proved to be the most challenging for the Russian squad — they narrowly lost to Uzbekistan 16-14 and to the hosts, Azerbaijan, 19-18. However, the Russian juniors won their remaining games and advanced to the playoffs in second place.

In the semifinal, Russia defeated Belarus 21-15, and in the final, they avenged their earlier loss to Azerbaijan with a 19-13 victory.

With this win, the Russian women’s national team claimed the CIS Games title for the third time in a row. In 2021, they won gold in Kazan, and in 2023 they finished first in Minsk — where UMMC forward Olairi Kosu was part of the squad.
