UMMC crush Samara in a home game

The UMMC women’s basketball team resumed the Russian FONBET Premier League championship after a short break for national team training camps. On November 14, they defeated Samara on their home court with an impressive score of 100–50.

In the first quarter, thanks to Olairi Kosu, the “Foxes” quickly gained the upper hand. Alex Bentley added momentum by hitting a couple of three-pointers. By the end of the period, the scoreboard showed a double-digit lead - 23:10 in favor of the hosts.   

The second quarter followed a similar rhythm, with the Yekaterinburg team continuing to extend their lead. Zhosselina Maiga made her impact felt early, adding 5 points to the tally. Olairi Kosu’s successful drives to the basket widened the gap to 21 points toward the end.

The third ten minutes began with the score at 44:23 in favor of UMMC. This time, the home team’s standouts were Kseniia Levchenko, Megan Walker, and Anastasiia Shilova - all of whom excelled in three-point shooting. Samara’s players managed to respond with mid-range shots, scoring 14 points, bringing the score to 68:37 before the final period.

In the last quarter, the Yekaterinburg team’s scoring only increased. Everyone was eagerly anticipating when the score would surpass the 100-point mark. This happened in the eighth minute with a shot by Megan Walker, and the final buzzer sealed a decisive victory for the team of Dmitrii Donskov at 100:50.

In the squad of UMMC, the top scorer was Alex Bentley with 20 points and 2 rebounds. Olairi Kosu contributed 17 points and 8 rebounds. Megan Walker added 14 points and 6 rebounds, while Zhosselina Maiga chipped in 13 points and 4 rebounds.

In the squad of Samara, former UMMC player Albina Razheva stood out with 14 points and 6 rebounds. Malury Bates also made a notable contribution with 10 points and 5 rebounds.

UMMC will play their next game away in Moscow. On November 18 (Monday), they will face the local team MBA-MGUSiT at the Basket Hall. The broadcast starts at 9:30 PM (Yekaterinburg time).
