“Foxes” take down MBA-MGUSiT

The Yekaterinburg team staged an impressive comeback and secured a confident victory in the away game of the Fonbet Premier League regular season in Moscow.

The game began with a strong start from the home team. In the opening minutes, Victoria Cheren shone with a three-pointer, followed by a mid-range jumper, giving MBA-MGUSiT an early lead of 5:0. However, the Yekaterinburg players quickly found their rhythm and narrowed the gap. Despite the efforts of the “Foxes,” the first quarter ended in favor of the Moscow team - 21:17.

In the second quarter, the squad of Dmitrii Donskov fully engaged. Jovana Nogic and Olairi Kosu became active, scoring consistently, while Alex Bentley delivered UMMC’s first three-pointer. Nonetheless, the Moscow players were ready to respond: Krymova and Frolkina successfully attacked from the perimeter. A hard-fought battle allowed the Moscow team to head into halftime with a slim lead - 35:32.      

The third period became a turning point. The Yekaterinburg team stormed into the quarter, and a three-pointer by Viktoriia Tretyakova extended their lead to eight points. The hosts’ attempts to respond with long-range shots were unsuccessful: Ekaterina Koshechkina missed two three-pointers. UMMC, on the other hand, continued to increase the pace and ended the period with a comfortable advantage – 45:55.    

In the final quarter, the “Foxes” solidified their dominance. Kosu, Bentley, and Beglova tore apart the defense of the Moscow team with their accurate shots from beyond the arc, leaving their opponents no chance for a comeback. UMMC’s final push secured a convincing 57:74 victory.

The top performers in the squad of UMMC were Olairi Kosu (20 points), Zhosselina Maiga (15 points, 7 rebounds), Jovana Nogic (14 points, 3 rebounds).

In the squad of MBA-MGUSiT the highest-scoring players were Evgeniia Frolkina (16 points, 4 rebounds), Maria Krymova (12 points, 5 rebounds).

UMMC will play their next game in Yekaterinburg on Tuesday, November 26, at the DIVS arena, where the “Foxes” will face Dynamo Kursk. The game starts at 7:00 PM.
